After graduation from ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ State University, Jim Buelt joined Battelle where he has held leadership positions as a senior development engineer, project manager, technical group manager, and product line manager. His responsibilities have centered on the development of radioactive and chemical waste immobilization processes and barrier systems. He is recognized as a leading authority on in situ vitrification and electric glass melting technology for the solidification of radioactive and chemical wastes. He has also been involved with the development and deployment of several technologies including pretreatment and vitrification of nuclear wastes, in situ vitrification of hazardous and mixed waste soils, and in situ soil heating of organic contaminated soils.
